Yes. That's right. Wanbang School is an βindependent private schoolβ located in Harbin, China, and is a regular elementary, middle, and high school that meets the establishment and regulations of a private school set by the Ministry of Education of China. After graduating from our high school course, you can enter universities in many countries around the world, including China, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and Korea, without a separate examination.
The period of study abroad varies greatly depending on the individual situation and academic ability of each student. For more specific details, please contact the school directly and consult with the admissions officer. Only students from the 6th grade to 9th can apply. High school students that wish to apply can also apply as a 9th grader.
Even if you have never learned Chinese, there is no need to worry. After entering Wanbang School, students take SIA courses for one year. Students learn the basics of Mandarin through the CSL (Chinese as a Second Language) Chinese intensive course. The most important thing in learning Chinese is to have a strong foundation such as correct pronunciation and tone. It is further recommended that you do not study Chinese in advance.
SIA, or Seven-power Intensive Academy, is an essential foundational course designed for first-year students in order to successfully adjust to studying and living in Wanbang. Students learn each subject in his or her corresponding grade, and undergo systematic education and training, including detox education, community training, projects, special lectures, and mentoring to improve their seven powers in a balanced manner. The SIA course is academically accredited and the duration of time till graduation does not change.
Our high school curriculum divides high school courses into SAP Track and Chinese Track. Wanbang is an AP school officially accredited by the College Board in the United States, offering more than 10 AP subjects each year, and runs a very high-quality AP Capstone Diploma Program that only a few AP schools can do. Over the past decade, all students have been entering prestigious universities in English-speaking countries such as the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia, and Singapore through the SAP Track. Students have been accepted to numerous prestigious universities in China such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, and Fudan University. Many overseas universities are focusing on the recruitment of international students in China as it is the world's largest market for international students. Korean students who study at a Chinese school with high academic rigor and who can master Chinese and English simultaneously, stand out as unique applicants when applying for universities abroad.
All international students must live in a dormitory. In one room, 5-6 students of various grades live together and form a very strong bond where older students serve the younger students and younger students learn from the older students. Communal living is a very important part of education at our school, and students experience the amazing process of helping and learning from each other and gradually growing into servant leaders.
